Do Casinos Cheat
- There are no stories of any casino caught cheating because casinos do not need to cheat players. Instead, they enjoy the House Edge, which is the margin charged for providing the game. Wins are random – however, someone will always try to cheat the casino or get an edge against other players.
- Casinos Run the Numbers If a casino cheater is any good at their craft, they’ll evade casino detection for a while. In fact, a gambling establishment may not have any idea about they’re being ripped off. However, casinos have the advantage of reviewing their numbers and figuring out where are they’re taking heavy losses.
Every person who has gambled, be it in a brick and mortar casino, or an online casino, would have one question in their minds, Do casinos cheat? After all, casinos are there in the business to make money. So they will surely be looking for ways to maximize their profits. Let’s try to understand if. Why would a casino when it already has the upper hand advantage make their machine cheat when if it was proven it would mean they’d lose millions in a lawsuit and pretty much all their client base since theres other casinos to go to that wouldnt cheat them for a few extra dollars. Casinos do sometimes instruct their dealers to do certain things that may be considered cheating. Preferential Shuffling in blackjack is one example. But this is a counter-measure against card counting, which causes the house to lose money.
I have been playing Blackjack for a few years now. I live fairly close to Blackhawk, CO where there is a small casino town. I have also visited Las Vegas 3-4 times over this period. Here's what I have noticed consistently:
/// Playing two-deck or one-deck blackjack at home and two-deck or one-deck hand-shuffled blackjack at a casino (where available) is VERY different than playing at a table with 4-8 decks using shuffle machines. ///
I'd say that about 65% play blackjack without a special strategy (other than 'bet more when I am winning and less when I am losing') and about 45% use probability.
*I have noticed that the probability strategy (which I use) does not work well with machine-shuffled tables or tables with more than 2 decks.
*There is a chance that the machines that shuffle the cards do not shuffle the decks randomly. Furthermore, unlike the hand-shuffled one and two deck tables, you do not get to see all the cards on the table (when they change decks). What would happen if the tens are clumped together in certain sequence? Probability goes out the window. Only people that will have a chance at an even game with the dealer would be someone with a big bank roll and consistent betting (i.e. betting $10 for all hands). And what if a few tens are missing from the decks? It gives the dealer a much higher chance of not busting.
If you are a BJ player using probability and betting strategy (betting high when you have a higher probability of getting better cards), avoid machine-shuffled tables at all costs. In my opinion, many of these casinos are going far and above to take your money and rip you off using whatever strategy they can even with the dealer advantage they have (i.e. whether dealer wins or loses, anyone that busts on the table loses first and the dealer gets the money).
I have found a few casinos that work well for me, and I feel safe playing blackjack there because they have hand-shuffled blackjack tables. These two casinos here in CO are run by the same company called, Affinity Gaming. Whatever the case, I recommend a casino that have one, two, or three hand-shuffled tables (three would even better since they only use half of the cards. So two-deck would feel like playing with one and three would be like 1.5 decks).
So, here are the questions. Should I just stick to the small casino? / Or Do the big casinos cheated?
I play my BJ game in Macau. many small casinos, like in JSM hotels. Sometime I lose, sometime I win, it's the fun of the game. Some time I lose the whole day, and won the next. but one thing That happened to me that any time I play at big casinos... like Wynn, or Galaxy, or City of Dreams... I will only get loosing streaks! And it's no fun!
So, here are the questions. Should I just stick to the small casino? / Or Do the big casinos cheated?
Do you want us to convince you you're not being cheated? You will only believe what you see happening.
Doesn't matter casino is small or big. Stick to the ones that offer great/superior customer service and experience. Casinos like that are generally more flexible and doesn't focus on the 'money' too much.
But still there are some big casino that I still feel good and give out good return and comp... I'll stick to those casinos then. Thank you for your advice.
Want to know how many of the casino-employed cheaters arrested each year are targeting the players? Zero.
The days of the 'bust-out' dealer are essentially over. If this was 1966 I'd give you a completely different answer. Four decades ago (and up until the 1980s even) house-employed cheating dealers certainly existed. These days, with no more mobsters left to bury you in the desert, anyone with an eye towards cheating someone typically aims at the entity with the most money: namely, the casino itself!
Is it possible you're being targeted by a casino employee? Yes, using a strict definition of the word 'possible.'
Is it likely? Absolutely not.

Ever heard of preferential shuffling?
The New Jersey court system has. It's not cheating there.http://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/general/22382-what-constitutes-cheating/#post464868
I am an amateur magician and I know what to look for in blackjack cheating moves. Was the dealer cheating? I don't think so, because there was no dealing of seconds. I think he just enjoyed practicing the skill. And for those that think that a dealer would never practice this skill for no reward but with the threat of being caught, all I can say is I saw what I saw. And I've been looking for 25 years.
